A black and white photograph of a Thornycroft 55ft Coastal Motor Boat or CMB.

This was one of the larger types developed from the 40ft boat to be built during the First World War. It had 500 b.h.p and was capable of a speed of 33 knots. It was armed with two torpedoes, depth charges and two machine guns. The torpedoes were launched from the back of the boat and the depth charges rolled over the edge.  Taken 1917.
