View from the Airing Ground (Winchester, Hampshire) sketched during Festivities held to Celebrate the Coronation of Queen Victoria

Coloured lithograph by R Baigent, Printed by C Hullmandel, 1838

The Airing Ground occupied the space to the south of Winchester Palace, adjacent to St James's Lane. A residential development based around the former Peninsula Barracks now stands in the area. This view is looking east down St James' Lane towards where the railway line now passes under the road. Winchester Cathedral can be seen in the background.
