Waterlily at Chiswick

Thomas Thornycroft on his steam launch Waterlily

The famous sculptor Thomas Thornycroft, father of John Isaac and William Hamo Thornycroft, on his steam launch Waterlilly on the Thames by Chiswick Mall, Chiswick. Waterlily was built for Thomas by his son John Isaac in 1866 and Thomas died in 1885. The young girl with him could be one of John's daughters, perhaps Edith Alice or Blanche Coules and the other two ladies his wife Mary and John's wife Blanche Ada. The house with two gables and a protruding bay is the family home Eyot Villa. from the Thornycroft Family Archive
