Baby's cap or child's bonnet, two 4cm wide strips of swiss embroidery with openwork wheel motifs round face, with 2cm machine lace insertion between, remainder of caul fine cotton, gathered onto 8.5cm diameter crown with strip of swiss down centre, motifs of swiss 3cm across, inserted lace, probably levers, is good imitation of mechlin, edging lace crude imitation val, edge of crown bound with 7mm tape second strip of swiss runs into hem, not brought together at back, chainstitch machined, c1900-1919
