Chinese Tapestry c.19th Century

Two half panels of embroidered Chinese tapestry.

Two half panels, embroidered to form one picture when joined together.

Possibly made in the 19th century.

The two panels depict a bird creature on top of waves on a raised platform, amongst the clouds. The colours of the piece are vivid blues whilst the bird is yellow/gold. Yellow is a very auspicious colour within Chinese culture as it is the colour of imperial robes and roofs.
