Decorative mount

Medieval

Found in the early 2000's by Wessex Archaeology at the Evans Halshaw site, Hyde Street, Winchester, Hampshire

A gilded copper-alloy fitting in the shape of a fleur-de-lys, this object was used as decoration, perhaps on a leather belt or horse harness. It might have been lost by a high status visitor to Hyde Abbey, or even by one of the more senior clerics.
