Old label reads; Sauce Boat: one of a pair: deep cream, yellow glaze: slip-cast, shell-shaped with a relief moulded feather edge of seven lobes: reeded, double twist handles and strawberry terminals of the early Leeds type. c.1770-1775. A similar shape was made by Charles and James Whitehead, Hanley, Staffordshire (Pattern Book No. 19), 1798.
