Farthing- William Simpson Teddy Bear Collection

Farthing- William Simpson Teddy Bear Collection

This teddy bear was named ‘Farthing’ by Mr William Simpson who was an avid collector of more than 250 teddy bears. This teddy bear has peachy colour long hair fabric, a swivel head and jointed limbs and a cream and silver neck ribbon holding a gilt frame medallion with a 1954 farthing inset.  This is a boxed Merrythought bear made for Compton and Woodhouse, part of a group called the Money Bears. It is a limited edition version no. 45 of 2,250 ‘Farthing’ embroidered teddy bears.

Mr Simpson purchased a set of six ‘Money bears’ in 2002 including Farthing, Ha'penny, Penny, Thrupence, Sixpence, and Shilling.
