Festival Place puzzle

A promotional puzzle designed to advertise the Festival Place shopping centre, Basingstoke, 2004.

The puzzle's design mimics the Festival Place logo in its completed format. Once the circular piece is removed, the letters can be moved and jumbled around so that the player has to move all the letters back to its original position. Festival Place shopping centre opened in 2002 with 165 shops and a 10 screen cinema demonstrating the large scale redevelopment of the previous concrete shopping centre and car park it had replaced. Construction of the centre took place in three stages involving the creation of The Walks and New Market Square being opened tin 1971. Next, The Malls was created between 1978-1981 which, as the name suggests, was the location and development of stores. Lastly, given the extent of development already taking place, the third phase was deemed excessive and unnecessary with the site being developed into a concert hall and performing arts centre known as the Anvil. Currently, the centre is a central thread in the fabric of Basingstoke by providing a range of leisure activities, food services, and employment opportunities for local residents.
