Flint used with a strike-a-light
Georgian, 18th century
One of four found in a building at Twyford, Hampshire in 1924
The flint was used to strike either another flint or a piece of iron causing a spark that would set fire to dry tinder.
These flints were probably used for other purposes originally and then re-used with the strike-a-light. Two of them were quite possibly gun flints.
