Hat, bonnet, child's, natural straw plait, high oval crown sloping down to the nape, narrow brim with wired edge covered with gathered white silk ribbon that has now darkened to cream, the underside of the brim framing the face is trimmed with gathered white net and small loops of narrow picot ribbon, lined white silk, the lining of the crown is printed with the retailer's name but the silk has shattered, wide white silk ribbon ties are attached on either side of the upper surface of the brim at ear level, narrow brown elastic is attached to the inside of the crown at the same point, approximate height excluding ties 270mm, approximate width 200mm, approximate height of crown 100mm, c1870s-1880s
