Johan- William Simpson Teddy Bear Collection

Johan- William Simpson Teddy Bear Collection

This teddy bear was named 'Johan' by Mr William Simpson, an avid collector of more than 250 teddy bears. This is a Hermann teddy bear, made out of a polyester fabric and is dressed in red velvet trousers and red coloured ribbon bow. It has a sheep like sounding growl. The teddy came accompanied with a printed parchment coloured scroll which reads 'Joan M Morbey, Memorial Bear presented by BTBA’.

This teddy bear was part of a consignment of bears presented to the Good Bears of the World charity in 1999 in memory of their former president and founder, Joan Morbey. Mr Simpson named this bear in memory of Joan Morbey however, he felt the teddy bear needed more of a ‘butch’ name so adjusted it to Johan.
