King Edward's Realm, 1902

Story of the making of the Empire, King Edward's Realm, written by Reverend CS Dawe, published by the Educational Supply Association Ltd, 1902.

This book was released in commemoration of King Edward VII's coronation, 26 June 1902 and outlines how the British Empire was formed. The book aims to encourage a sense of pride in the Empire and develop a strong relationship to national history emphasised through the preface which begins: 'As Englishmen we have been born to a great inheritance, which we hold in common with our kinsmen in all parts of the empire'. This book contains black and white plated images and illustrations alongside key historical events such as the colonisation of America and Captain Cook's expeditions.

Rev. CS Dawe was also the author of 'Queen Victoria and her people' which commemorated Queen Victoria's diamond jubilee in 1897.
