Nicholas - William Simpson Teddy Bear Collection

Nicholas - William Simpson Teddy Bear Collection

This teddy bear was named Nicholas and belonged to Mr William Simpson, an avid collector of more than 250 teddy bears. This teddy is dressed in baby clothes. There are two bands (one red, the other white) crossed over his chest.

Nicholas is part of a family of teddy bears consisting of Tino, Tilly, Rupert, Roberta, Nicola, Lord Meight, and Lady Sidonie. He was purchased in 1969 in Holgate's Baby Shop, Eastcote, Middlesex. Nicholas' make is unknown - he was possibly made by an English company but his lack of labels makes it difficult to verify this. Mr Simpson notes that Nicholas 'has always proved to be popular with his owners and friends', a fact that is reflected in his worn condition.
