Photograph of the Baring family at The Grange, Northington

Taken in 1871

The Hon. Leonora Caroline, second daughter of Lord Digby, married Alexander Hugh Baring in 1864, becoming the 4th Lady Ashburton when her husband succeeded to the title in 1868. She is seen here seated at an entrance to The Grange with two of her sons in matching suits - Francis on her left and Frederick on her right. Slightly behind and to one side stands their nanny.

The photograph was taken by Winchester photographer William Savage (1817-87) and is found in an album of his work.
