Photograph of the rectory at Easton

Taken about 1870

Easton lies on the south side of the River Itchen three miles north-east of Winchester. The rectory seen here was built in 1853 on the site of the previous one at a cost of £2,200. The incumbent in the 1860s and '70s was the Reverend Algernon Wodehouse.

The photograph was taken by Winchester photographer William Savage (1817-87) and is found in an album of his work.
