Photograph of The Grange Farm, Northington

Taken about 1870

This substantial building was the home farm for The Grange Park Estate. The improvement of the estate was a principal interest of the 4th Lord Ashburton, whose many projects included the construction of an extensive range of stables and of a covered yard for his fine herd of Jersey cattle as well as additional buildings at the farms of Northington Down and Swarraton.

The photograph was taken by Winchester photographer William Savage (1817-87) and is found in an album of his work.
