Photograph of Home Farm, Longwood Estate, Owslebury

Taken about 1870

The extensive Longwood Estate had several tenant farms; the Home Farm seen here surrounded by trees was situated relatively close to the House. It appears that the farmer was interested in his garden where the topiary has been kept trim and plants abound. Perhaps he is the man standing in front of the fence with his family while to their left a farm worker shoulders a tool.

The photograph was taken by Winchester photographer William Savage (1817-87) and is found in an album of his work.
