Photograph of the Wodehouse family at the rectory, Easton

Taken about 1870

In this semi-formal Victorian group portrait the Reverend Algernon Wodehouse and his family sit outside their home - Easton rectory, about three miles from Winchester. Lady Eleanor reads a book while her husband appears to be deep in thought. Note the potted plants in stands both inside the house and in the garden as well as the cane furniture.

The photograph was taken by Winchester photographer William Savage (1817-87) and is found in an album of his work.
