Photograph of the stables at Hursley Park, Hursley

Taken about 1870

The coach-house and stables survived when the Tudor Great Lodge was demolished to make way for Hursley Park House in the 1720s and part of these older buildings, which are thought to date from the late 1600s, can be seen here with dormer windows in the hayloft.

The children may be grandchildren Sir William Heathcote and his first wife, the Hon. Caroline Frances Perceval whom he married in 1825.

The photograph was taken by Winchester photographer William Savage (1817-87) and is found in an album entitled 'Hampshire Views of Churches, Country Houses and Public Buildings'.
