The Old Guildhall (Winchester, Hampshire) During Alterations

Pencil and crayon drawing by C B Phillips, 1915

This view, taken during repairs to the Old Guildhall, clearly shows the timber framing of the southern elevation of the building.

The Guildhall was built in 1711 on the site of the former hall, at the expense of George Brydges, one of the two Members of Parliament for Winchester. The clock was presented by Sir William Paulet, the other Member of Parliament.
