Pottery vessel found in the grave of a middle-aged male during building work at Kempshott Park, Basingstoke.

Two beaker burials recovered by excavation , one was a complete Wessex/Middle Rhine beaker that had been placed between the feet of a crouched burial , the second in more fragmentary state was also recovered from the site, found near Basingstoke.

Late Neolithic (Beaker): c 2100 BC. The ‘Beaker horizon’ is associated with the first metal working and another, more disturbed, grave found in the vicinity contained the remains of a female, accompanied by a pottery vessel and a bronze awl.
