A medieval silver circular shaped mount in the shape of a scallop shell, from Longstock, Hampshire. The shell has a large and well-rounded crescent shaped body upwardly pointing corners, each corner then curves inwardly to a central projection that has a rounded terminal and flanked by circular knops. The mount is convex in plan and decorated with eight groves that radiated down from the central projection. The underside is slightly concave with a more pronounced channel running latitudinally down the centre. There would have been two thin integral bent pins on the reverse for mounting, but one is missing with only its base remaining.
