Silver thimble. The thimble is stamped with a maker's mark, a "B" within a shield, and is engraved with the owner's marks "MW". The rim of the thimble is pierced with a suspension hole. Found at Butts Farm, Bishop's Waltham, Hampshire. Mid to late 17th century date.

This thimble is stamped with a maker's mark - a letter B within a shield, and is engraved with the owner's marks - MW. Unfortunately, it is not now possible to identify these individuals. The rim of the thimble is pierced with a suspension hole, perhaps for a cotton thread. The loss of this personal item was no doubt regretted by its owner.
