Edward Hart's notes 'No 1 was killed by 'Dapper' Cull (a sobriquet aquired through his weakness for shooting the little Dabchick). He recorded this occurrence in 'Land and Water' as a 'Sabine's Snipe', stating that the differences between the common and 'Sabine's Snipe were the darker plumage and having twelve tail feathers; fortunately this in time led to this bird being correctly identified.
