Old label reads; Teapot and cover: pale cream, rippled green glaze: lathe-turned, the large pearl beading bands impressed by means of a roulette. The shape, especially the cover, and disposition of the beading, have been attributed to the so-called "Melbourne" group of teapots which have plain or reeded double, intertwined, handles. Elegant enamelled chinoiserie figures with outlines in iron red and flower sprigs in sepia on grass with black dots have been found on Derby porcelain and on creamware which has therefore been attributed to Cockpit Hill, Derby but especially on creamware teapots with features corresponding to the sherds found at Furnace Farm, Melbourne. Not marked: probably Derbyshire, c.1775.
