William Littler's last fully documented venture at West Pans in Scotland ended in ruin in 1777; this teapot belongs to a class of wares linked stylistically to a slightly later period, but which chemical analysis has shown matches earlier pieces by Littler; there is some evidence that he may have been working for Ralph Baddeley at this time, so the ware in question is tentatively referred to as the Baddeley-Littler group
