Teddy Bear

Mrs Ted - William Simpson Teddy Bear Collection

This teddy bear was named ‘Mrs Ted’ by Mr William Simpson who was an avid collector of more than 250 teddy bears. She is an English Chiltern bear with a swivel head and jointed limbs, and is made of fawn mohair plush fur, has glass eyes and is filled with wood wool stuffing.  This teddy wears a homemade purple patterned pinafore with a pearl button 'badge' backed with gold gift tie, a gold gift tie 'belt' and a Mothers' Union banner.

This teddy bear is partnered with other teddy bears in Mr Simpson’s collection including ‘Father Ted’ and 4 teddy bears dressed as choir boys. All of these teddies were bought from a shop in Lyme Regis in 1999.
