Large bone bodkin

Medieval or post-medieval

Found during excavations by Winchester Museums Service Archaeology Section at Victoria Road in the mid- to late 1970s

The bodkin would probably have been used for coarse work such as netting. Although it was found in a 15th or 16th century pit, it could be earlier medieval in date.
